November 2007
Well it has taken some time to organize, but Dave McElhinney was able to secure a brand new Cummins Engine and the shipping to get the engine to Kenya! All by way of donations, WOW how great is that!
This trip saw a long time friend and farmer from the Westlock area, (David Nelson) coming to lend his skills in getting the Drilling Rig running again. The two Dave's met the engine in Nairobi where they worked for 4 days before having the engine ready for the trip to the Turkana desert. From there they transported the engine 40 km into the desert  where there are no roads! They got to work right away, modifying and fabricating pieces to install the Cummins into it's final resting place. After working with the drilling team in the hot desert sun for a day and a half, they were ready to fire up the engine and like only a Cummins does it roared to life, ready to power the Rig for many years to come! This has been a long and difficult year for NCM, but in all the hard work we were honored and blessed to witness the completion of the first water well. NCM would like to Thank all those who have made this possible. CLICK HERE

July 2007 Kenya
After returning home from a somewhat successful trip Dave McElhinney received a phone call from the Drilling team that the engine on the drilling rig had a broken crankshaft. So with little preparation Dave was flying back to Kenya to see how he could handle this setback. As so many times before we have had trouble finding parts and after finding parts, there is always the problem of having them delivered. According to Dave, by his standard it was not a very successful trip as the only engine they could find was a very old Lister Petta. As the rainy season was upon them the difficulty now was to get the engine to the rig. The flooding lasted so long that Dave was never able to reach the drilling site and just barely made the airport for his flight home. The team was able to install the engine and begin to drill again, the sad news was the engine only lasted 3 days! Stay tuned for the good news!

May 2007 Northern Kenya
Dave McElhinney traveled to Kenya in May to take delivery of the Drilling Equipment and oversee the transportation of it to the Northern part of Kenya. It was a long and difficult journey with all the equipment breaking down at one time or another. Due to the harsh conditions and the lack of roads much of our time was spent making repairs in the hot sun. The first location was also difficult to get to ( 2 days to travel @ 20 KMS) again much of the time was spent digging our way out of the sand. We finally reached our destination, set up the rig and started to drill. Dave left the team there and started the long journey home to Canada.

February 2006 Lokore, Kenya
Dave McElhinney, Garry Lemire, Stephen Lemire and Peter Bensler assisted the village of Lokore by refurbishing a local water well and adding a storage facility unto the community center. The addition will aid Pastor Wilson in storing a supply of food for the poor and needy during the current drought. NCM is currently working with the Great Commission Foundation to send a water drilling rig to Turkana. Stuart Rempel, Mark Chabot and Tim Coehoorne joined the team in Lokore to meet with local officials in planning a strategy for a drilling program. The team also took food and clothing to the needy families of Lokore and surrounding area. Once again showing the Jesus film to the Turkana people is one of the high lights of the trip.

February 2005, Lokore Kenya
Dave McElhinney, Garry Lemire, Scott O’Greysik and Scott McDowall returned to the Turkana region of northern Kenya to finish construction of the community center in Lokore. The team worked with Pastor Wilson and some Kenyan nationals to put a roof on the building and parge the walls. In 2004 we showed the Jesus film to hundreds so with the purchase of a projector and screen we showed it to thousands in 2005.We also equipped Pastor Wilson with a solar paneled backpack to take the Jesus film to the remote villages of Turkana. We were also able to bring food and clothing to the poor and needy in Lokore and neighboring villages. It is so rewarding to help those in such great need. As always Pastor Wilson stated that the mission was a success.

January 2004 Lokore Kenya

Dave McElhinney, Garry Lemire and Stephen Lemire traveled to northern Kenya, to the Turkana region to construct a community center in the village of Lokore. They worked with a Hope for the Nations UK missionary as well as the local village Pastor. The center is a twenty-five by forty foot cement block building that will be used for a preschool, medical clinic and church facility. During construction they were able to mentor and train 4 Turkana men in working with cement blocks and building a strong concrete structure. The center is a benefit to the village community as it will assist them in furthering development in the lives of its residence.
