Greetings To Our Faithful Partners

Great News From Lokore

The Team has completed our first water well in Lokore. It has truly been a test in perseverance, but a complete success. We drilled to 54 meter (180 ft ) with the results being clean, clear, fresh drinking water. You can only imagine the excitement of the villagers. Singing, dancing and of course giving thanks to all those partners who had a hand in bringing their village this beautiful gift of life. I talked to Pastor Wilson and he said it has been over a week and most of the women and children are still rejoicing with smiles from ear to ear. The most amazing part of this is a fresh water well with salt water wells about a kilo away on both sides.

A Letter From Zeddys

At this point we would like to Thank our Heavenly Father for granting us a chance to do things the Jesus way! To be precise how can one drill a fresh water bore hole in an area best known for salty water if not by Jesus’ way of miracles? This is because what is impossible before the eyes of men is possible with our God. In the past Lokore has been a place of great difficulty to drill boreholes!
The people of this area may not forgive me if I fail to report this. Immediately they realized that we had struck the first aquiver. There was a long queue of women with Jeri cans wanting to fill them from the bore hole water. They were really excited that we had found water.

At another near by water point, women spent one or two days lining up to get 20 liters of water which may last them only a half a day. As pastor Wilson reported, these people really suffer.

On 29th of March, we installed a hand pump on this borehole and people started using it immediately. The whole community was very happy for the fresh water.
There was one woman who said her prayers a loud. In her prayers, she prayed for the entire team involved in this good work of giving water to the thirsty. We got a picture of her lifting her hands up as a sign of Giving Thanks to the Lord for this sweet gift. I would also like to join hands with her in Thanking our Heavenly Father for this type of work and also to the Team over seas and back here for their support to this life-giving project.

I would like to Thank Stuart Rempel, Dave McElhinney, Garry Lemire, David Nelson, Tim, Mark and all the NCM Partners from over seas. I would also like to Thank David Sonye, Isabel Wakio and the Life Ministry team from Kenya for their great help. From Turkana side, I would like to Thank Pastor Wilson and his wife Alice for their support to this project in the Turkana Region. Lastly I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Drill For Life Team for their commitment and dedication to the project; together we shall make a difference. Change is not wished but initiated!

Yours in His service
Zeddys

Something To Think About

As you are reading though this letter I’d ask you to take a moment to think about the magnitude of this problem of water and ask yourself this question. What would I do if? If I couldn’t have a shower in the morning or at night or maybe both! If I had to walk to the neighbors for a pail of water to make my morning coffee. If I had to walk 25 kilometers one way to retrieve water for my family and all I could find was polluted sewage water, What Would I Do? This is the reality the Turkana people face everyday! Thank you so much for helping and caring!

Some Important Facts

1.   1.1 billion people, because of no other alternatives, are forced to drink contaminated water.
2.   1.8 million people will die this year, because of poor or no drinking water. 1.6 million will be children. That’s one child dying ever 20 seconds.
3.   Almost 4,500 children die every day due to diarrhea-related diseases.
4.   A baby born in sub-Saharan Africa is 520 times more likely to die from diarrhea than a child born in North America.
5.   A person in Africa survives on 10 or less liters of water per day while their Canadian counterpart, uses more than 300 liters per day!
I will be returning to Kenya March 28 with Scott O’Greysik, we are hoping to have a hand in finishing other Water Well in a village not to far from Lokore. We are looking forward to bringing back Great reports on the Difference you have made in the lives of the Turkana people! None of these things would be possible without your Love, prayers and your generous gifts.
Thank you!

Dave, Garry and the NCM Team
