NCM Update
April 1, 2008
Dear Partners Dave, Garry and The NCM Team would like to thank each one of you, who have made it possible for us to keep moving forward in our endeavors to make a difference. As we come into each new year it is always good to look back at where NCM has come from. Since starting Nehemiah Construction Ministries it has always been amazing to set up our budget and goals for the year and then see how things come together. Our budget seems to double each year and this year looks to be no different from the past. Ministry Goals: NCM goals this year are to complete six to eight more water wells. This alone could help 8 to 10 thousand people in their quest to find clean drinking water. It would also help in the distance and time spent in traveling for water. The cost per well is $15,000 Cdn, so the total cost would be $120,000 Cdn. We will be contacting each of our partners over the next few months as a way to follow up on our fundraising project. Please consider your gift as a true blessing for the Turkana people. Update: As most of you know there has been much turmoil in Kenya over the last few months. This has been a very trying time as you could imagine for our dedicated team of workers. They have risen to the challenge and returned to work in order to bring a message of peace to those around them. It is very humbling to see their faith though all this trouble. They are presently drilling a well in the village of Lokore. This is a place close to our hearts as it is the first village we were able to help and is also where we first met Pastor Wilson Pastor Wilson: Has been as busy as every making a difference in the Turkana Region. With the difficulties of the last few months his focus was definitely tested as he was forced to go from helping the Turkana people into a role of survival. Even when his own life was in danger he was able to find ways of helping the growing population of refugees within his reach. I am happy to report that all is getting back to (somewhat) normal. Wilson, Alice and Fortress have returned to their home in Kakuma and have begun to pick up the pieces. Nehemiah Training Center: This is something that Pastor Wilson has a vision to see happen in the town of Kakuma. The training center would greatly benefit the young girls and second sons in the Turkana Region. We are in the process of securing a parcel of land that would serve more than one purpose. It would include a training center, sewing school, block making, construction and a place to house future teams, the Drill For Life equipment and supplies. NCM has had a commitment of $65,000 Cdn to begin the work on the compound. Also in the last month we have had a pledge of $60,000 Cdn to upgrade the drilling equipment. Again Nehemiah Construction Ministries would like to say Thank You for your generosity and compassion to help the Turkana People! YOU HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE
Blessings to all Dave McElhinney
