Short Update From Wilson

March 18, 2008

Hey Dave,

Greetings from Kenya. I arrived in Nyeri safe. God
has kept Alice & Fortress well. Both of them have had a
cold but now they are doing much better. Our family members
are doing well also. They were happy that the Lord brought
me back in one piece.
Between Matunda, Kitale and Nakuru, what I saw was a
nightmare. Big towns are brought down to nothing. Food
stores had been burned to the ground and refugee camps are
dotted all over Kenya. The burned out shells of cars, buses
and big lorries are now scattered along the road, which are
evidence of how evil & selfish the minds of many are. All
over our land, you hear the cry of orphans, widows and
other victims of the post election violence.
I want to take this time to thank you and all of our
family members in Canada who stood with us during the
difficult times we had here. Currently, the situation is
better. President Kibaki and Raila seem to be working
together. They are campaigning for the reconciliation &
forgiveness in all the tribes. Although it seems very tough
to forgive for those who lost everthing, there seems to be
a light at the end of the tunnel. We trust that things will
get back to normal soon.
The only places where things are not better yet are the Mt.
Elgon region and Laikipia. Turkana Region, things are
normal again.

In the Turkana region, the only problem is thirst.
Last week, an elderly woman died as a result of lack of
water. Her family members had gone to fetch water, but the
lineup of goats around the well was very long. The line was
so long that they were very late to getting home. Sad that
upon their return, they found a mother had died. This land
is very dry!
The presence of the drilling rig and our team working
around has brought lots of hope to Lokore and the villages
beyond. The area chief said, "It is sad that one of us died
of thirst, ...the good thing and some encouragement is that
now there is hope. There is a group of friends who are
committed in sinking boreholes in our villages. Our
children and our children's children have a hope. God has
provided! Please tell those people that we are very
thankful. We may not have much to pay back; but assure them
that our prayers are with them....."

Thanks friends for believing in us.

Lots of love,
Wilson
